Transaction preparation and records
Payments Information
Use clear amount, account, status and record checks before and after a mobile transaction.
Confirm before authorising
Check the intended account, amount and payment method before approving a transaction. Read the information inside the trusted payment application rather than relying only on a message or screenshot.
A request to reveal a UPI PIN to receive funds is a warning sign. A PIN authorises an action; it should remain private.
- Confirm account and amount
- Read status inside the payment app
- Keep UPI PIN private
Pending and failed status
A pending status does not automatically mean the money is lost or that the same transfer should be repeated. Record the reference, time and amount, then allow the payment service to update.
If a transaction fails, distinguish between an account problem, network interruption and payment-service status before trying again.
- Keep the transaction reference
- Avoid immediate duplicate payment
- Review the final status before another attempt
Protect the wider account
Payment security also depends on the device, password, OTP and active sessions. Do not install remote-control software for an unknown contact or share the screen while entering a PIN.
Keep transaction records long enough to resolve a genuine discrepancy, but do not post private receipts publicly.
